Book Excerpt
Page 6, Restorative Healing Begins With Rest •Create a daily routine with a fixed time to go to bed and wake up. • Don’t eat after dark; try to eat your heaviest meal when the sun is highest in the sky. • Reduce exposure to blue light and EM signals at least two hours before bedtime. • Aim to go to bed close to 10 p.m. and get about eight hours of sleep. • Don’t think about past problems or future issues. • Take deep breaths, each lasting three to six seconds per cycle. • Gently rest your mind and imagine your breath going through your body. • Lie on your back in a relaxed state, with your hands over your stomach or by your side. Lying on your side or stomach will also work. • Have a comfortable mattress on the harder side not too soft to distort the spine. • Wear loose clothes and nothing that will restrict blood circulation. • Use a white noise generator to block distracting sounds. No sound • Lavender aroma therapy mask to block light • Make sure the room is the right temperature; cooler is better than warm • Melatonin tablets may help as a last resort.
